Prescriptions

Ordering repeat prescriptions

The easiest ways to order repeat prescriptions are:

  • Using your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)
  • Using your Patient Access account

These accounts show you your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.

You can also:

  • By telephone between 10:00 am and 4:00 pm on 01562 822647 – we have a designated prescription clerk who will answer your queries between these hours.
  • By email [email protected]
  • Post in the Repeat Prescription Box in reception at the surgery

Please ensure you include the following information if you email or post your request into the box in reception:

  • Full Legal Name
  • Date of Birth
  • Telephone Number
  • Names of medication needed (details can be found on repeat prescription sheet)

Collecting your prescription

We will send your prescription to the pharmacy within 2 working days (if you have a nominated pharmacy) after you have ordered it. Please check with the Pharmacy if it is ready to collect.

You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.

You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:

  • On the NHS app or patient access website where you order repeat prescriptions
  • At your GP practice
  • At any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions

Questions about your prescription

If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.

The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.

If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:

  • Phone our prescription clerk between 10am and 4pm on 01562 822647

If you are due for a review of any medication we will call you to arrange this.

What to do with old medicines

Take it to the pharmacy you got it from. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.

Sharps Bins

If you have a sharps bin that is full, please take it to Kidderminster Hospital where they will dispose of them for you. Surgeries or pharmacy’s can not dispose of them.
